18th hole of Harbour Town |
Play where the pros play at the annual Verizon Heritage Golf Tournament. The Harbour Town Golf Links is repeatedly selected by the PGA Tour professionals as one of their favorite courses and is consistently ranked as one of the top 100 golf courses in the world. Called “nothing short of a work of art” by Sports Illustrated, Pete Dye in consultation with Jack Nicklaus created a modern masterpiece that places a premium on finesse, imagination and shot-making skills rather than strength alone. The course plays through a maritime forest of black water lagoons and majestic Live Oaks draped in Spanish moss with towering Loblolly and Slash pines all overhanging and defending the fairways. Considerable forethought must be given on placing your shots in order to attack the greens. The set of par threes at Harbour Town are ranked among the finest in the world. Its famous finishing holes, 17th and the 18th, are constantly buffeted by winds, leaving players with a difficult club selection. Everything about this golf course is tough and breathtaking in beauty.

Forty years after Pete Dye designed his first masterpiece at Harbour Town he has come full circle and returned to create a new masterpiece at Heron Point. Golfers today are looking for a new challenge. To that end, Pete Dye was given a multi-million dollar budget and a green light to do almost anything he pleased in transforming the old Sea Marsh golf course into a new work of art with teeth. Fairways have been restructured to feature dramatic angles and shifting elevations, while surfaces feature a mix of sand, mulch, limestone and various grasses to present a diverse and stunning landscape. Pete Dye is famous for offering risk and reward shots and you're sure to find plenty of opportunities on this remarkable course.

The course represents a true classic resort golf experience and has been awarded “Beginner Friendly Course Certification” from the National Golf Course Owners Association.
